About Michelle
Michelle Spokes is a writer whose work centers on bisexuality in Gen X. Her creative nonfiction essay “New Girlfriend” placed as a finalist in the Witness 2023 Lit Awards contest judged by Melissa Febos; now it is published, along with an interview, in Mud Season Review. Her work appears in venues including Gertrude, Penny, Oyez Review, Storm Cellar and the book 7 Veils from Hay House press. She is seeking representation for her novel If There Is Nothing But This and future projects. Currently, she’s working on a collection of memoir essays entitled Why We Love the Rain. Spokes holds a master’s degree in creative writing from Queens College. She works as an educator and yoga instructor in the suburbs of New York where she resides with her spouse and daughter.
